East Timor Visa Information

Passports:

A passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry into East Timor is required by all nationals referred to in the chart above.

Visas:

Portuguese passport holders (1) are granted free visas for stays in East Timor of up to 90 days.

All other nationals referred to in the chart require a visa to visit East Timor.

Visas do not need to be obtained in advance; a single-entry visa valid for 30 days will be issued on arrival at the International Airport in Dili.

However, nationals arriving at a land border must apply in advance for a Visa Application Authorization. This must be presented to an imigration official at the border, and, if the traveller can show sufficient funds to support themselves for the period of proposed stay (US$50 per day), and accommodation arrangements, a visa is granted.

Travellers applying in advance may be granted a visa valid for up to 90 days, which can include multiple entries.

Note: Nationals not referred to in the chart are advised to contact the embassy to check visa requirements for East Timor.

Types and cost:

A 30-day single-entry visa: US$30. Fines for overstaying can far outweigh the cost of arranging a visa extension.
